I've spent most of my life fascinated by the photos that people take. The way someone can capture a moment and make it beautiful is wonderful to me. I've always wanted to be able to do that. Up until recently, I've done absolutely nothing to pursue that wish, but things are changing. I went on a trip to Japan with my sister and one of our friends and I used the trip as an excuse to buy myself a nice camera. Well...nice by my standards. I doubt a professional would be jumping for joy over buying that camera, but I definitely did. In case anyone's wondering, its a Cannon Rebel T6. I read that its a good camera for beginners and it was relatively affordable compared to the other cameras I was seeing. Unfortunately, nature seemed to not want me to be able to use it. My friends and I went to the Renaissance Festival right after the camera was delivered and I was so excited to use it. Unfortunately, it was raining for most of the day, so I don't think I was able to take more than 20 pictures in the six hours we were there
Refusing to be foiled by weather, I took the camera with me the next time I house sat for my parents and spent half a day following their dogs around and taking pictures. I'm sure that some of those pictures will eventually wind up on this site too, but I have a lot of pictures to go through. I also have several pictures of my roommate's dog and our cat. Truthfully, there will probably be a lot of pictures of animals on this site, because I love animals and they are always doing something cute enough to take a picture of.
A couple weeks ago, I got my biggest photography opportunity to date. My sister, a friend, and I went on a trip to Japan for ten days. It wasn't my first big international trip, but it was my first as an adult. More importantly, it was my first big trip with a camera. I'm pretty sure I took somewhere around 1000 pictures on that trip. I'm hoping that I will be able to keep travelling to awesome places and taking awesome pictures while I'm there.
The other day, I discovered Fotor. A website where I can edit my photos for free. Once again, its probably not professional level editing, but its a good place to start. I've never taken any classes or done any tutorials in photo editing, so I really have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just making them look good to me and if anyone doesn't like them, they can feel free not to look at them. I'm sure that I'll get better as I go, but I'm pretty happy with where I am for just starting out.
